Do most schools give money for valedictorians?

Just wondering if you all know if most high schools and colleges give money for valedictorians or salutatorians? Thanks.

I am not aware of high schools who give money to vals, sals. Some colleges do, but I don't think that most do. Many colleges only give need-based aid.

My guess is that the colleges that are most likely to give $ to vals and sals are in-state public universities. The "guranteed scholarships" site that you can find by Googling lists some colleges that give $ students who are val/sal.

that would be dumb if they did

Most state uni's do. For an example (@ RutgerS), if you are in the top 5% in your class and score well on your SAT's (1500-1600), you will get a full ride plus some extra cash :)

Since I'm from New Jersey, thats the only school I have real knowledge about, but I can imagine that its pretty much the same for most states. Here's some more info about rutgers: http://admissions.rutgers.edu/080101.asp

Yeah also from NJ, and I know that for TCNJ if you're in the top three then you'll get a renewable $1000 scholarship as well as all the merit stuff they'll be giving you based on SAT's and decile placement.
