Do my chances for UIUC change?

I originally made a thread about this when I had a 32 on the ACT. However, I retook it in September, and got a 33. Even though it isn’t a huge improvement, I’m wondering if my chances at UIUC would change.

3.73 Unweighted GPA (most rigorous curriculum given what my school offered)
33 ACT (34 E, 30 M, 33 R, 33 S)- single sitting
34 ACT (35 E, 34 M, 33 R, 33 S)- superscored
APUSH (5), AP Chem (3)
6 APs, 4 Honors, 2 CC courses by the time I finish high school
Solid Extracurriculars and Essays

OOS (California)
Asian Indian Male
Major: Computer Engineering

Having a 33 composite is better than a 32 so yes it will help a little. UIUC does not superscore tests in any way that applicants normally think of superscoring. It considers mainly the test with highest composite. The engineering college will then also consider a higher math from another test, which in your case that helps because you have a higher math score from your first test, but the composite considered for admission is still 33.

Please chance me for uiuc!

Hi I’m a junior and I am trying to apply to uiuc. I am instate but the tuition is a lot of money so I was wondering if you could not only tell me my chances of getting in but my chances of getting the presidential scholarship or another scholarship the gives around 15k.

I know that my act is really holding me down but if I am able to bring it to the 30’s range would I be able to get a good scholarship? I would also be majoring in a science and I live in Illinois. If I am not able to get 15k off then I won’t be able to go to my dream school. I already qualify for an almost full ride at mizzou if not. Please help! Thank you!

It will be lesser a reach but still a reach for the following reason:

  1. CS major is extremely competitive with admission average at 34 or above.
  2. OOS
  3. Asian male

@billcsho I’m not applying for CS. I’m applying for Computer Engineering. Would that make any difference?

@QuiteAverage90 I believe the Computer Engineering may be even slightly more competitive than CS at Engineering.

@billcsho when I met with an officer from the admissions office at UIUC she said the most competitive is bioengineering then comp sci then mech. So Computer engineering will help some.

@Ksty1098 I think bioengineering was the most competitive program. But last year, the computer science/engineering admission was getting really tough. I have read single digit admission rate here and the 34+ admission average ACT.
