I took the march and may SAT, and my best scores are
670 math
760 writing
800 critical reading
2230 combined
The hardest school I will be applying to in the fall is Columbia University. I think my math is slightly below the 25th/75th percentile range. Considering my higher verbal scores, do you think I could get in? If not, what would be a reasonable score to aim for when I take the test in october?

I would say a 700+ would suffice, but even as it stands you’re in very good shape assuming good gpa/rank/essays/EC. A 2230 is nothing to scoff at and good enough for basically any school in the country (even if you got a “low” score of 670). If you look at it the pre-writing days, you have a 1470 – a very respectable score for most Ivy league schools.

To be direct, no. The scores would probably not compensate for each other. Prep, try again, and aim for the 800.
