Didn’t Santa Cruz use to be the rape capital?

ewwwww i wouldnt put it past Santa Cruz, if everyone is high.

lol thats unfair, i apologize to the banana slugs.

Santa Cruz was like the Serial Killer Capital for awhile, but that was way before any of your time.

Yeah, there’s a lot of places for creepy people to hide there.

^ you would know =P

haha, it’s true. I most certainly would.

ewwwww now ur lederhosen post makes all the sense in the world.

lol

every campus has crime. cal poly has a red hand print every place on campus that a rape or sex crime was committed. there are quite a few. it just happens, be smart and safe when you go roaming around campus

Just out of curiosity, why are so many against legal concealed carry (CCW) on college campuses? If more people carried, stuff like this wouldn’t be nearly as prevalent…

Ps
Before any of you jump and flame me for MY beliefs, let me just tell you that I am well versed and well researched in this particular topic and in general I dedicate every vote I cast in any election to defending what our constitution values, regardless of political affiliation. I support rights for ALL people as dictated by our constitution and as dictated by my personal compassion and logic.

With that said, please (kindly <3) explain to me why (if you feel so…) legal concealed carry on campus shouldn’t be allowed.

I don’t have a problem with it.
But arguing for individual rights on government property seems self-defeating, as property can only become government property through violation of individual rights.

I don’t see the point of carrying any guns on campus, whether concealed or otherwise.

Although I’m all for gun rights (citizens carrying guns limits the government’s capabilities for tyrannical and oppressive behavior), I am definitely against concealed weapons on college campuses. I would be willing to bet my life savings that, if an intense scientific study was conducted, it would find that college students are much more likely than non-students to partake in risky and dangerous behavior. College social life is full of depression, jealousy, insecurity, etc, etc, etc. Adding guns into the mix is definitely not necessary. A lot of rapes on college campuses occur when the victim is drunk. Guns + drunkenness = no thanks. I just feel like these crimes can be avoided in other ways. But I’m all for general gun rights.

I’d be willing to consider a position that’s pro-concealed weapons. But not on college campuses or schools. (It’s easy for an oppressive force to surround your house and impossible for an oppressive force to surround the entire populated environment.)

Bayarea,

yeah im originally from DC, moved across the country to go to a CCC after my heart was broken when ucla rejected me from high school, been my dream school since i was like 7 ive i get rejected again god know what will happen…

but yeah DC is a great place if your older but a lot of problems especially within the school system

Wow, DCSPORTSFAN, I can confidently say you are the biggest UCLA fan I’ve ever heard of.

^^^is that sarcasm?

Yeah, I have no problem with the right to bear arms but allowing that on college campuses might just be about one of the dumbest things the government could do. Just imagine all those d0uchebag fraternities that have “beef” with each other and then add in guns. Sure, if a few of them go down then good riddance but I’m sure a few innocents would be caught by stray fire.

Sure, you could add guns to a large group of hormonally-charged young people and argue for constitutional rights but is it really the practical thing to do?

We already have some wonderful case examples of how well giving guns to hormonally-charged young people works out. The streets of LA, Chicago, NYC, DC, etc.

Why do we assume that just because some kid got above a 3.0gpa in school that they are less likely to impulsively blast someone for some vague disrespect than some kid from the ghetto? Especially when that student is likely under huge amounts of stress from school, relationships, and being away from home.

Guns are bad, are we in agreement?

^I dunno. Are we?

Well they kill people ya know, right?
