Do not know what to major in?

Hello,

This is my first question/post on this site and I was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice or insight:
I do not know what to major in. I'm currently at a UC and it is my second year. In high school I was so into politics and the liberal arts that I was the captain of the debate team and Model United Nations, but my parents always pushed me towards the sciences. Now I honestly love my science classes. I'm currently on the "pre-med" or the biological sciences route. My previous classes make it okay for me to enter into any major in the Biological Sciences College at my school. I really like my chemistry class after hating chemistry all freshman year and now I like even calculus that I used to dislike. Although I like these classes I'm not sure what I should major in, because I've researched majors such as Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and even Chemical Engineering and everyone seems to say that Biochemistry is not worth it because of low job prospects.
How are the prospects of Biochemistry and Biotechnology?
I know Chemical Engineering sounds good, but I'm currently waitlisted for the organic chemistry class I need for that major and I'm enrolled in an organic chemistry class for bio majors.
My overall question: Should I switch to an engineering major and maybe graduate late or should I continue with the biological sciences( Biochemistry) even though most people say it has low prospects?

If you do biochem, it would put you on a great track to medical school. My parents majored in Biochem/biological sciences and chemistry when they were in college because it was what everyone else was doing, but soon after they graduated with PhD’s in their fields the jobs were getting outsourced. Think of today’s pharmaceutical companies. Most of them aren’t doing well in the U.S. because the jobs are being outsourced, and most chemists face losing their jobs. Majoring in chem is fine, but don’t count on actually being a professional chemist.

I’m not sure about the engineering part. Definitely major in it if you’re interested though.

Thanks for replying! So if I major in biochemistry m only solid option would be med school?
