Do numerical grades matter?

I noticed my daughter’s transcript actually includes the numeric percentage she earned in each class, rather than just the final letter grade. Do selective schools look this closely at the transcripts or do they just focus on the GPA and course rigor?

If it’s in addition to letter grades, then I’m pretty sure they will just look at the letter grades.

They’ll look at the overall GPA, and probably each year’s GPA to look for trends. Maybe a glance at where the non-A’s are to get a feel (B’s in Math, English, etc. mean more than B’s in Band and Gym).

They don’t have time to parse granular numeric grades beyond the letters.

D’s transcript was like that too. For us it was a positive because of the school’s grading scale.

It’s one of those it is what it is type things.
