Do colleges truly only consider your highest sat scores. For example if i got a 2100 the first time around and brought that up to a 2280, is the first take on it going to hurt substantially, or will admissions departments take your highest score from each section and only consider that?

it depends on the colelge. I know the UCs only take your highest score in one sitting, but other universities such as Upenn see your highest score for each section

The vast majority of colleges mix and match scores to give you the highest possible.

2100 is not a bad score....
jeez

If u get 600/2400 and then 2000 its different
2100 is good, if u can do better thats good for you

geez. I have a 2100(3rd time try)...you're making others feel bad. I'm probably not very smart.

Most private colleges count your best score. It really depends on the college though. The UC's only look at your latest sitting.

I think some schools do count only the highest, though they will see the others. Maybe an example could be Columbia, because though CB sends all ur scores, Columbia only asks for the highest. Hope that helped.

tchaikovsky, latest sitting? i thought best sitting? some ppl's latest sittings are not necessarily their best.

I'm sorry, hideANDseek is correct. I looked it up and I now believe it's just your best score in one sitting.
