Is it ok / acceptable for parents to come to visit schools with you. Like if I went would it be a benefit to me to go with my mom or alone with like a friend? what was your experience

Yess my mom and sister went with me. I don’t think it’s uncommon. I saw many kids at several different schools with their parents. It doesn’t really matter who you go with…as long as YOU get a clear sense of if YOU like the school

Thank you, I just wasn’t sure because like the people I know seem like they don’t want parents to come and Jo I don’t just follow every one else but I was just curious

Mine do. Although, I usually go to the front on the tour as my parent with my loud younger brother stay in the back. Their just as interested in the whole process as I am since its the first time anyone in my family has done this whole thing.

Most of the people who I have seen on college tours were with their parents. I’d suggest standing away from your parents, preferably close to the tour guide. That way you wont have your parents bugging you, and even shoving their opinions down your throat (it couuuld happen lol)

My parents have come on every tour with me, and I, like tb0mb93, see many people with their parents. I think it’s a good idea to have them go. At some schools, such at Bates and Wesleyan, they suggest you split up and take different tour guides.

Yeah, I usually go with my mom. I think it’s good because if it’s not a college right near by your parents need to see it to feel better/doubt where they might be sending you. They might be able to help you choose based on their personal experience. They might also notice things that they don’t like about the college that you hadn’t noticed but is pretty big. Also, my mom often has questions I don’t even think about that are pretty important, such as laundry and dorm furnishings hahaha.
