Do parents typically have to pay to attend events at parents's weekend?

I saw a small fee for registration: $50/adult visitor, kids free. Seems fine to me.

I don’t recall any fees at Dartmouth family weekends. I think we may have had to pay some nominal amount for lunches.

Erin’s dad, not all schools include sporting events in their student activity fee. My school didn’t, we had to buy tickets to football and basketball games. I was surprised that my kids’ schools do include those as part of the fees.

I did have to pay a fee for orientation, and it was to cover meals. The parent fee was about $30 for 1.5 days, the student fee about $60 as they stayed in the dorms.

We paid for an optional luncheon and for the football game. In addition, my parent group pays for a fraternity tailgate/mixer for those parents, so we pay for that as well. The other events, such as the concerts and the art shows are free.

Northeastern charges a fee to attend and it includes parking and some meals. There are then additional events you can attend which are ticketed and you have to pay for - hockey games, trips, etc.

Can’t recall for sure if there was a fee for DS#1’s parents weekend/events but there was a registration fee and attendance fee at some of the events at DS#2s parents weekend.

For our two Ds who attended LACs we paid for meals at the cafe register and to attend the football game (nominal entry fee). Everything else was covered (except airfare and hotel  )

Emerson has a very small registration fee. There are 2 events requiring a fee. We signed up for one of them. The rest of the activities are no cost.

I don’t remember if there was a fee for oldest’s school. There may have been a small fee, so they could have an accurate headcount for food. ( As a private school they used the charge alot up front model, which we were familiar with from her K-12. But then counseling, sports activities, even massage, were all included)
However, as she was too busy with her studies to see us, we learned it was better to work around her schedule.

Younger daughters school is public & they charge for extras. No charge for registration, but if you want to hear a special speaker or take a kayak or sailing tour of the bay, that is extra.
( oh- youngest graduated last spring, we will miss going)
