One big exception is in K-12 education. In that case, we advise our students who are applying for teaching jobs to leave some HS info in – not grades or HS part-time jobs, but definitely the school attended (especially if it’s local) and main ECs or achievements (academic achievements if relevant to teaching subject areas). It helps with networking and showing relevant experience for coaching or club advising. Otherwise, college work and activities should replace HS items.

I have been advised by people at the elite boarding school I attended to keep my high school on my résumé as a one-liner (without any information about achievements etc.) The network supposedly goes a long way.

In HI, when folks ask what school you went to, they often mean what HI HS, yes even after you’re long since graduated from college and having your career and beyond. There is quite a network, especially if you are one of many who attended private school.
