It’s a high school brand. College is a time to move on to real clothing that "Real People"™ wear. If you want a polo shirt, go with Polo Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, or Brooks Brothers. The quality of construction is significantly better, and interestingly enough it’s actually cheaper. And the fit is proper.

never knew CC was the inspiration for The Devil Wears Prada

I’ve NEVER seen a college student who wore a Brooks Brothers polo OR dress shirt(since we’re mentioning BB). The price of a polo from Brooks Brothers can be double the price of an AF shirt. Of course I’ve seen students with Polo Ralph Lauren and Lacoste polos since I’m one of those people though…

^ Go to a Brooks Brothers outlet… **** is cheaper than Lacoste and PRL.

^ Is it really?.. That’s surprising… maybe I should give it a visit then… my bad.

what’s the big deal about name brands?
seriously if your a crappy ******bag person, but wear ralph lauren are people going to like you more?
money isn’t everything…

and i know this because i have the most materialistic mother a daughter can ever have.

People wear ANF at ASU.

Personally, I’ve never bought anything from ANF because I would rather not PAY to be a walking billboard for a company. Advertise in some other way, thanks.

I mean really, who wants to pay $40 for a shirt that just advertises where they bought it? I don’t see Target imprinting their logo on shirts for the general public to buy.

I’m not your free billboard, kthx.

Ain’t Lacoste polo’s around ~60$ (or something really expensive)? That’s the crock brand right ? I actually wanted a polo, until I saw the price! hahah It was a fair cheaper at AF.

If you really think about it, when you wear a shirt that has branding on it, not only did you pay for the shirt, you also advertise for them (for free), which costs the store next to nothing!

Random: I’m really skinny (metabolism is too fast!), and definitely not by choice and I was honestly surprised by how small the shirt sizes were. I had to get a large at AF. To all the girls trying to fit into size 0 pants, that’s literally impossible unless your waist is >24 inches around…I was honestly surprised at how small their sizes are…they definitely are catering to the rich, and skinny. Its like they try brand themselves as elitist.

Ah, I remember the days when I was a 00 at A&F as a freshman in high school… Then I got to be a normal size and started wearing Buckle jeans, because they actually fit well.

@karabee I can’t shop at Hollister because I’m a 9 to 11ish. They stop making sizes at 7, last I looked. I’m not fat, I’m just 6’!

I’ve never seen a single person wear AF in college. It was huge in junior high though, I remember my mom buying me these garish neon orange shorts when I was 12.

Brooks brothers is about 80 for a dress shirt; I own a couple. Great quality, imo.

I agree completely.

Im a guy and I like A&F but not all their clothes. I sometimes buy their button downs, jeans, and shorts. its not a label I would flash around just to look cool but I actually think their quality and style is pretty good. Hollister, american eagle, and aeropastel on the other hand are terrible quality in comparison. I had one hollister shirt litteraly fall apart at the seams. I would definitely wear A&F if it looked good. Just don’t get caught up with the label.

uh i stopped wearing ANF when i was 15…

besides the fact the clothes disintegrate from lack of quality, they cost an arm and a leg. honestly, when i see someone wearing ANF i feel bad because they spent so much money on poor-quality crap. plus i think it signals that the person doesn’t have much “personal style”.

i have kind of a double standard on this. i think it’s harder for guys to find fashionable alternatives to this, so i give them a little more leeway. for girls, there are lots of places to find quality, affordable, fashionable clothes.

I’m just entering college, but I’ll go with the “no one cares” argument.

I personally don’t like the brand. I really hate the shirts that have no purpose but to advertise their name in letters. That’s just lame.

I can still fit into Abercrombie kids (XL lol) and have a few polos. I’ll most likely bring those to college. However, most of my shirts are polos (RL included) just because they’re simple to wear with jeans and they look better imo than just t-shirts.

I won’t spend more than $30 on a shirt, and most (even RL), I’ve gotten for far less.

I work at A&F
So obviously i like the store and the clothes but I did use to shop there more often when i was younger. Life freshman/sophomore yr of high school. After that i hated all the shirts that had A&F written across the chest because it looks tacky to me and most of the shirts with A&F across the chest aren’t that cute anyway.

Also I think it’s so weird when people spend like 100 dollars on a pair of pants from there when you can get a very similar style for like 20 bucks at kohls or younkers. It’s not like the quality is that much different. There are certain clothes that are super cute and you really wont find anything like it else where though and that’s what i spend my money on.

P.S We have a 50% off all red lines going on right now. I got a super cute shirt for like 7 dollars yesterday. Pants are on clearance for like $15.

Oh, I almost forgot. I have a corduroy A&F jacket that I got from GoodWill for $3…it was WELL worth the price I paid for it.

doesnt abercrombie make cuter clothes now? i mean sure they still have their logo tshirts and hoodies, but they’ve gotten a lot better imo. i’d totally wear something like this.

i think some of you mark off the idea of abercrombie altogether just because of the brand wh0re logo which i can understand…but don’t forget not everything is like that.

to whoever said something about lacoste polos, they’re i think 75 for womens and probably a little more for mens. they are worth every penny though (in my opinion).

agreed. but now, that statement is more common than aberzombies themselves.
