Do pre-med students need the ppd skin test for TB?

On the health immunization form ( http://shcc.ufl.edu/medical/pdf/acl-002a.pdf ), it says that international and students entering academic health programs and health professions. Does this include those who chose pre-med when signing up for Preview, like checking that box about whether you're a pre-professional? My main major is Biochemistry if that helps.

I don’t think so. Academic health programs would be people in Medical/Dental/PT/PA/etc. school, who are actually frequently interacting with patients. Pre-med really just means that you’re taking certain science courses, so there’s no need for a special immunization.

Ok, thank you!

Yea I don’t think pre-med kids do. The exception is if you start volunteering at Shands (a common thing for premeds) if you’re going to have patient contact they’re probably gonna make you do the ppd.

As Zaersz, stated you will have it done yearly, if you plan on volunteering/shadowing at Shands. The same will be done in medical school. If you have the BCG vaccine, there is a high likelihood you will have a false-positive.
