anyone know whether they use this site to find the posts of applicants?

do they glance over posts to see how their school is represented? it's a possibility. do they reply or track people down? definitely not.

so basically, they dont have time to search through the forum to try to find a particular candidate?

^ Think about how many applications they have to read! I doubt it...

just be safe and make sure you don't accidentally leak your identity or any trace that people could pick up on, if you're so paranoid. open a new account just to post your chance thread, if you like.

I haven't heard of Princeton admissions people tracking people down, but there have been cases in some other communities on CC, including MIT.

Last year, an applicant got a call at work notifying her that she got into MIT, because the admissions people knew her from CC, matched her application, saw her complain about not being able to check the decision, and found out where she worked and called.

An admissions officer at an info session said they do not look at Facebook/myspace/Xanga to check people out, simply because they don't have time and are too busy with real work. I think that would apply to places like this. It wouldn't suprise me if they checked it out, but stalking someone from a forum, and then figuring out which application is there's seems like an awful waste of time to me.
