How much does Selecting good class benefit ones GPA? Can they help substantially or would a person who gets A's always get them regardless of their professor because they are hard working?

How do you feel about people that use those sites and base class selection upon them? Are they smart in avoiding unnecessary hits to their GPA or are they immature for wanting to take the easy way out?

Just a random survey :)

Rate my profs is great! It really helps to get a general idea of what a professor is like. Of course, different people will have different opinions of the same professor, so you shouldn't entirely base your decision off of the website. It does help though, and it has saved me from some terrible profs. Trust me, the professor you get really does matter.

The prof you get absolutly matters. Example: I am an econ major and I had to take my school's intro econ class even though I got 5's on both the macro and micro APs. Now, I have a VERY strong grasp of intro econ, and learned some things in my HS AP class that we still havn't touched, and I've taken intermedeate micro so far. Anyways, I had one prof for econ 103, and my roomie had another. Now she had no background in the subject, but her teacher was horrible. She wanted verbatem answers, and anything else was simply wrong. She played favorites (my roomie was lucky enough to be that favorite) and was known for disliking girls (which I am). I had a nice teacher who was a bit disorginized, but NICE and having a NICE teacher makes such a huge difference. I got an easy A with my nice teacher (and it should've been an easy A because I know it so well), but because I am NOT a memorizer for the sake of memorizing, I don't know if I could've done very well with a prof like that. So it helps to know which teacher have different styles of teaching, especially if you are aware of how you learn best.

HELL YEAH. Use it, abuse it.

I used it to avoid those professors taht seemingly never give out A's and to get professors that actually care about teaching.

I won't make my schedule without using Ratemyprofessors. I will avoid a class if the overall majority is that they're bad. I've only come across one professor who I thought was misrated. All of the others have been dead on.

I'd rather take a class with a teacher I know I can do well with than a teacher who's gonna be horrible and give me a bad grade.

In the end: the GPA is what matters most to me.

does anyone know any other websites besides ratemyprofessor.com?

i believe the teacher/prof can make a huge difference. the prof determines ur whole attitude towards the subject. having a nice and understanding prof goes a long way. I really am not sure which other sites there are for rating teachers. the one i have heard from everyone is ratemyprofessor. u should google it or something.
