Our assignment in AP English is a lengthy paper(at least 22 pages)
Is this something that will prepare me for college?
Many of my friends in college have never had to write that long of a paper.

I haven’t had to write that long of a paper yet, however I’m only a college freshman. The longest paper I’m writing this year is for my English final, 12-15 pages.

I wrote a 25 page paper for my sophomore English honors class…in high school. However, that’s the only time I’ve written something over 15 pages. When I get to college, though, I expect to be writing 20-30 pages pretty regularly at some point.

I know I thought that too- but I’ve been talking to some people who are SENIORS at schools like USC and UCLA, and they haven’t written papers that long

It really depends on the college/professor/major/class/degree. None of my dual-enrollment college classes require that, but I wrote some long papers in my sophomore English class.

well i have 3.5 hours to finish :(

No lie, I’m sitting at my computer right now writing an outline for my 15-20 page AP english research paper. xogenxo, what is your paper about.

lol wow.

15 pages? haha.

As others have already mentioned, it depends on a lot of factors (e.g. class, professor, major).

I’m a second-year currently and I’ve yet to write anything longer than eleven pages. I’ll have to write a BA paper during my fourth year to graduate, though, and it’ll probably run anywhere from 45-50 pages.

As to whether writing such long papers in high school will prepare you for college … that’ll depend entirely on the quality of your paper. If you write a 20+ page paper filled with fluff, then no, it won’t. If you write 20 quality pages, then sure! ;)

haha my paper was about hospitality imagery as a microcosm for duty in othello hamlet king lear and macbeth
