Georgetown asks for three. Is it acceptable to take Math 1 and Math 2? Thanks!

I doubt it. Math 2 is basically Math 1, except with more concepts/thinking.

You can always ask though

Every college that requires SAT IIs requires that they be in different subjects. Thus, submitting both math 1 and 2 would count as only one required test. Georgetown is no different.

will they disregard the app without three different??
and another question,do the 3 sat II have to be in different areas?i have math II phy and chem..should i take another in lang. or history??

Nope! Unfortunately colleges do not so state -- another instance of poor communication. No where on Georgetown's website do they say do not take M1 & M2 as part of the three required tests. Indeed, they say take three subject tests of your "choice".

In concept Drusba is correct, however. Yes you can submit two maths of the three, but expect a poor admissions result bcos everyone else WILL submit three tests in different disciplines. Moreover, unless applying to an engineering (or other science) program, you should always submit one math-science and one humanities-lit score to demonstrate breadth.

Even the only kids accepted at MIT from our HS over the past few years, for example, had high history-lit scores -- the math-science only 800's were shut out.

Actually Georgetown no longer states a requirement for separate subjects because it no longer actually requires SAT IIs for admission -- it simply states that it prefers receiving them. An application to Georgetown will be considered even if you submit no SAT IIs.

And to question above, math, physics, chemistry, biology are considered four different subjects.

^^

GU only accepts the SAT/ACT w/o Subject Tests for EA candidates. All others, ...."whether they submit scores from the SAT or ACT, are requested to submit scores from three SAT Subject Tests of their choice." Now I guess that one could argue that "requested" does not necessarily mean required, but their on campus info session last summer made it clear that Subject Tests are a significant portion of the RD app.

depends on the school, unless they say its not acceptable, i dont see why not.
i have chem, math 1 and math 2, and i applied to H and P with those. hopefully the rest of my app will make up for any part of that decision they dont like.

Good luck with HP. But, I'll leave you with a comment from Harvard's website:

We are often asked why we still require three SAT Subject Tests now that the SAT includes writing. The short answer is twofold: (1) more information is always helpful in admission and (2) we hope to encourage more of America's and the world's best students to challenge themselves broadly.

well hopefully the evidence from my transcript that shows that i took advantage of a variety of courses will make up for this. otherwise, id rather get into columbia or yale anyways haha :)
