Do senior grades matter?

On first semester I got:

Spanish Honors 7 B
Band A
AP Calculus BC A
AP Government B
AP Physics A
AP English B

Second semester, I have all same classes with Health.
I heard that SD looks at weighted GPA combined with first and second semester. So for me I can get all C's on second semester and still be safe?
Also if I meet the requirements of not getting D's or F's and have gpa of 3.0, there is no way that i can get denied?

Thank You guys..

it is true that ucsd looks at weighted overall a-g courses and that needs to be 3.0+. and as long as you don't break the contract, then no, they can't deny you.

Hey guys, if I get a D in AP Chem, but still get higher than a 3.0 gpa, does that still mean an automatic rescindence??

I know for USC, if you tell them you might be getting a D, then they'll be less likely to rescind..how bout UCSD?

Oh yea, and if it sheds any favorable light on my case at all, I have 5 AP classes..??

UCSD is kind of strict about D's [so far that is what I have heard] there is still some time left, and I highly highly highly recommend you working your ass off to get a C- in the class. Talk to the teacher, explain that you are trying but you don't understand the concepts, get your parents involved if you have to, but get a C-. Teachers don't usually want to fail you and ruin your college plans forever [of course there are those occassional mean teachers]. If you are in danger of getting a D, I would email/write a letter to UCSD explaining your situation and then see what they decide from that point.

Part of the provisional contract states that grades can't "significantly drop" so going from almost all A's to all C's...I don't know if they'd like that. I also read that you can't have more than two C's in any one semester.

Where has that been stated before? I've heard something along those lines as well, but do any of you know people who have been rescinded because they had a lot of Cs but still maintained the other parts of the contract?

i would assume that if the contract states that you cannot get anything below a C and should keep your UW/W GPA above 3.0, they cannot hold anything against you if you meet those requirements.

Isn't the 3.0 unweighted? Lots of Cs means that it's not 3.0 unweighted....maybe? I haven't read the contract yet, myself, I'm just passing on other people's interpretations, please correct me/us if that information is wrong.

Lol, well I got rejected from UCSD, so I don't know. But it isn't right for them to penalize someone for something that isn't written on their provisional contract. I mean, if you say that your grade dropped significantly.. well, it is second semester senior year, doesn't everyone's grades drop? If I was accepted to UCSD and I got a GPA above 3.0 ( dunno if its weighted or not) and didnt get any D's.. i would like to spend my summer celebrating getting into college instead of freaking out about whether I still am in or not.

I emailed them, asking them:
* Your senior year grade point average (GPA) in all UC approved courses must be at least 3.00.

Is the GPA a combination of both semesters? Is the GPA weighted or unweighted? Thanks.

they said:
Your senior year, meaning both semesters’ worth, has to be at least a 3.0 weighted, with no grade lower than a C.

Best of luck,

UCSD Admissions

Yeah, so as long as you have no grade lower than a C, and a combined weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.. you're GOLDEN.

Is it ok to get multiple C's as long as you maintain the 3.0 weighted?

That's pretty much the case here. When I checked UCLA, though, they had something about having 3 or more Cs, although when I asked, they said the same thing.

Yes, it's ok to get multiple Cs, as long as you maintain the 3.0 weighted.

so, in an AP class
B= 4.0
C= 3.0
?

^^^correct
