I'm thinking about applying to Stanford EA. Do they look at senior year grades at the time that they are reviewing the applications? I'm taking six AP classes and have a varsity sport, so I have two B's right now, and the rest A's. I expect the grades to raise at the end of the semester. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA before senior year. So do my senior year grades matter?

What shows on your transcript? Stanford EA decisions come out in mid December, so it is unlikely that anything more than the listing of your senior courses will be considered unless 1) your high school puts first quarter grades on the transcript, 2) your secondary school report included 1st quarter grades, or 3) Stanford ad com calls your counselor and asks for the grades. But keep in mind that, if admitted or deferred, you will have to send a mid-year report, which could impact you.
I do not think you need to worry, though. You obviously are not blowing off senior year.

They generally don’t matter as much as the previous 3 years, because by the time your first quarter grades come out, your transcript should already have been finalized and sent off to Stanford. So one B in your first quarter class is really not going to matter at all.

That said, if you end up getting straight Cs, there are these things called Mid Year Reports and End of the Year Reports. If your GPA changes drastically, odds are your acceptance will probably be rescinded.
