I have heard that many good schools, especially in the northeast and west coast, typically prefer a higher SAT and don't really credit the ACT as much. True or false?

No. 10 CHARS

Never. If anything, it is always seen as equal with ACT, or ACT is preferred. There has been a handful of lawsuits and complaints about the new SAT being crap.

my son submitted both ACT and SAT

The only reason I got into UCLA was because of my ACT score (I presume...). Definitely false.

Go ACT!!! (It's easier for me and straightforward)

I say take both. Colleges don't prefer one test over the other.
