I'm talking about need-based aid. I'm currently going to UCR, and have a EFC of 0, yet I'm required to take out almost 8 thousand dollars in loans this year. I'm planning on transferring anyways, but I'm wondering if I could expect better packages at any other UC schools.

If there is a difference, which schools give the best financial aid? Which give the worst?

i got the best offer from UCLA… $3,000 more than UCSB and $4,000 more than UCSD…

i’m pretty sure that the amount they give you reflects the given area’s cost of living… then again, maybe not… because SB’s rent prices are easily on par with, if not more expensive than LA’s.

I got $15,585 for the year in grants, I go to UCSD. I think that’s pretty good, I also got about $5,000 in federal loans so I don’t have to really work. I also have an EFC of 0.

So how are you paying for the rest? Your total only comes out to just over 20,000?

$20,000 pretty much covers it for me, UCSD says the my year will cost like $25k, but they allot may too much for housing ect.
