So I will be a student in SAS. My question is will I have access to all the buildings etc.? Can I get into the Huntsman building? Can I get into the math library? But more importantly, can I get into the other College Houses?? For example, Kings Court has a dining hall and so does Hill; If I were in the quad, can I eat at Kings Court, Hill AND Commons? Also, Ware has a convenience store, can I go to that convenience store or McClelland Lounge if I am in Riepe? Are the three Quad houses connected internally (ie I do not have to go outside to traverse to the next one)? Thanks

Yes to all.

So essentially all the facilities at all the college houses are open to EVERYONE… even if you don’t live there? That is quite surprising because at many other Ivies, the various residential college facilities are closed to students that don’t live in the residential colleges.

well okay that’s not totally true, you can only reserve group meeting and activity rooms (like music practice rooms) of the college house in which you live

but it’s no big deal to get a friend who lives in a particular college house to take care of that for you

other restrictions include that you are not able to enter a college house you don’t live in after 2 am without a resident to sign you in

you need a wharton class account to log into most huntsman hall computers, and you need to be an actual wharton student to reserve a group study room in huntsman

i’m not sure if all students have swipe access to engineering buildings after hours, or if only engineering students do

and then certain facilities, like the vagelos labs, require special authorization for swipe access - and the school of medicine / research buildings require a black key

and finally, because of silly design issues, there is a wall in fisher between class of 1928 and brooks that would require you to go outside - but all quad residents get a key that opens all of the quad external doors and bathrooms

Yeah you can go anywhere. I waltzed into this neurosurgery operation theater over at HUP the other day with my Hemo’s sandwich. They seemed pretty chill with it, but the patient died.
