Do summer courses at CC taken prior to senior year count toward your GPA?

I just finished my junior year, and am ready to tackle senior year during the 2015-2016 school year.

During summer, I have taken Astronomy and ASL 2. I was wondering if these will count towards my UC GPA.

Thank you!

Also, do they count as 5.0s? (Given A grades received)

I’m pretty sure only classes taken at other UC’s are counted toward your UC GPA.

From http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/q-and-a/calculating-gpa/index.html#16

So, were the astronomy and ASL 2 courses UC transferable? The course description should say. They would earn an honors point, but the number of points is capped at 8.

You can go to https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/search/all to see which of the a-g categories they are in. Typically, ASL 2 would be an “e” and astronomy would be a “g” (because only physics, biology, and chemistry are “d”).

I’ve been told that all 3+ unit college courses that are UC transferable count as 2 semesters toward your UC GPA. I don’t have a good citation for that, however. The ASL 2 class should count as the 3rd year of ASL if the prerequisite was 2 years of high school ASL and/or if the prerequisite for ASL 3 is 3 years of high school ASL.

Separately, is your school set up to have these show up as dual-enrollment credit on you high school transcript if you have the community college send them your transcript? If so, the classes also count toward your high school GPA and graduation requirements, and depending on your school’s policies, they would be a 5.0.

Be sure to check with your high school. Ours counts community college classes as 4.0 in calculating high school gpa, so for students with a gpa greater than 4.0, it drags down their gpa.
