Do tech/engineering schools consider gender when distributing merit aid?

@snoozn not to push MITech but it is an amazingly easy application. If it hasn’t changed, one page, no essay, no application fee. It will literally take 10 minutes to fill out. It is one thing both S and his fiancé liked lol!

But Tech is not for everyone and you have to be committed to going there. If she doesn’t, she doesn’t.

Both my kids visited RHIT and really liked it. Nice small college.

@deb922, Looks like I needed that push–
I checked their website and as soon as I saw the town name of Houghton I remembered why we took it off the list. One of D’s deal-breakers is that there must be a nearby Brazilian Jiu-jitsu studio and there had not been one so off the list it came. Looking back over the fit of the program, size, stats and perhaps most importantly the NPC results, I searched again and there actually is a BJJ studio in town. Not sure if we missed it somehow or they didn’t have a web presence at the time. Back on the list it goes and great news about the easy app. Thanks!

It’s nice to be able to ‘require’ a certain amenity, but if financially the school works the best, sometimes you have to give up the Starbucks on campus or the special nail place and focus on the financial and academic fit.

@twoinanddone, even allowing for a good amount of hyperbole, I hardly think it’s fair to compare a sport my D has been doing seriously for 10 years to a Starbucks craving. As far as what a kid can require, that’s going to be very dependent on individual family circumstances. She has admit/afford safeties that meet this requirement. All of the schools on her list meet my various requirements if they come out to be affordable. If she chooses a safety to keep doing BJJ I have no issue with that.
