Do the amount of AP's per year matter, or just overall how many you took?

Freshman year I had no idea what I was doing.. needless to say that was my weakest year, and I had no honors or AP's. (ended with a 3.39)

My old counselor (who got fired because she mislead students more than she helped them) discouraged me from taking any advanced classes sophomore year. So after getting my act together sophomore year, I realized that I DID have the ability to be taking harder classes. (ended with a 3.78)

This year I am a junior and I am taking AP English.

Next year as a senior, I plan on taking most of the AP's available to me- AP Gov, AP Art, AP Environmental

So this is what I am worried about.. that colleges will look at me and say, wow this kid didn't really take AP's until her senior year. Will they do that or do they just care that I am changing and making the effort my senior year, when most students are choosing "easier" classes? Do classes you take senior year even matter?
