On the UC app we have to state our family income and the level of education of our parents. Do the app readers see this information?

pretty sure yes

they can literally see everything on our application

Well that’s not true. They don’t see your name or ethnicity.

They see it if you put it down. From what A Berkeley rep told me- that information is completely optional. She advised me to not put down my family’s income…if you feel that it would hurt your chances of potentially getting scholarships, don’t put it down!

Have you filled out an app yet? that information is required.

I’ve filled out that section…I didn’t put my family’s income. It let me complete it.

@shannon13 They don’t see our name on our app? That doesn’t make sense. Lol.

@larinaga- why wouldn’t it make sense? They are blind to race and gender, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to be able to view our names which would most likely reveal our gender and possibly our race too. I believe they just see a number.

Other information, such as parents’ occupations and family income, are required only if you are applying for the Educational Opportunity Program or an application fee waiver.

Hey thanks for that info lookingforward!

Shannon, I think that’s stretching it a bit. A UCSB counselor told me they use our name and birthdate to connect the TAG and UC app to one another, so I’m assuming they see our names.
