<p>Right now I'm taking honors and AP in all my academic classes.</p>
<p>The problem is, I want to become a pharmacist and i've kind of messed up on my academic classes.</p>
<p>I had the choice to double up in two honors classes (chem/phys + bio) in my freshman year and never took the opportunity and now i can't get into AP chem / AP bio </p>
<p>So i'm wondering...</p>
<p>do you guys think my classes im currently taking will mess up my chances to get into pharm school much at all?</p>
<p>That depends on if you want to go into a 0+6 pharmacy program right out of high school or if you want to complete the pre-reqs and/or a degree and then apply to a pharmD program after. If you want to do 0+6, I hear that they heavily consider your GPA and SAT/ACT scores (someone correct me if I’m wrong… I don’t know much about 0+6 programs). They might also require that you take some chem and bio before admittance to the program, but that’s just speculation on my part.</p>
<p>If you want to take the pre-reqs or get a degree and then apply a pharmD program, then your high school classes and GPA really don’t matter (besides using them to get into college in the first place). The study habits you form and getting used to more “intense” classes like AP or HP classes before college are more valuable than the actual classes themselves, IMO.</p>
<p>Pharmacy and the pre-req courses are all about chemistry and biology, so you should really try to take some chem and bio classes in high school to know that you find the information interesting and can process it effectively (assuming you have a teacher that facilitates this). This doesn’t mean that if you have a hard time with it in high school or don’t get a good grade in that one chem/bio class that you won’t be successful in pursuing pharmacy. </p>
<p>Long story short: what you take in high school doesn’t matter that much if you go to college and then do a pharmD. It does if you go to a 0+6 program. You won’t find 2+4 or bachelor+pharmD programs that ask anything about your high school days unless you accomplish something totally amazing and use it in your applications.</p>
