Do the UC's look at your Non-transferrable grades? help a noob

Hi all, I am planning on applying for Uc's this fall. I was wondering if the Uc's look at non-transferrable or remedial math class grades. Does the grade go into your gpa you send? I am really bad at math, and I am taking intermediate algebra this summer, because I didnt pass last spring.. Then Ill be taking a transferrable math class this fall. Does it effect me that I am taking my first transferable math course the same semester I am applying??? How much does it matter when I take my first transferrable math class? Is it even possible to take it next spring? Or should I take this summer math class and take the transferable class in the fall? I am an english major btw, and I just want to get math over with. The schools I am looking to go to are UCI, UCD, UCSB, or UCSC btw. Thanks

As far as i know, UCSD doesnt care about ur non-transferable class… if you get anything above a C or W… they dont even want to bother you… however, if you maintain a GPA 3.3 or higher, u should be able to get into the UCs you list above. Just work as hard as you can, i know you can achieve it. my advise is… if you r not good at math, DONT EVER TAKE MATH IN SUMMER, because you wont be able to caught up the material.

These are all really good questions.

Take your transferrable math class this fall. I’m recommending this because the UC’s want the core courses (like English and math) done earlier. At least, they would prefer you have it done before your final spring semester.

Your non-UC transferrable grades won’t really matter. The UC’s will see the grades, but the UC GPA is truly what matters. Your UC GPA is only composed of your UC transferrable grades.

Btw I highly recommend stats or psych stats. I took psych stats (too perfect considering I’m a psych major), and I found it to be the easiest math class I’ve ever taken in the last 4 years BY FAR. However, from what I’ve read, it’s one of those classes that will either click for you or completely miss.

May I ask why you’re only targeting those 4 schools?

Thanks for the replies guys. And I haven no particular reason why I am targeting these schools, but they just seem to be the most reasonable. My transferrable gpa is around 3.3.

btw… what is your major
