Do these actually exist?

Alarm clocks that fit into your ear like head phones? I don't want to wake my roommate.

I think ipods can do them. If so just plug your earphones and have em on before u go to bed.

or the ultimate solution - sonic alert vibrating alarm clocks. check em out. I got mine on amazon - violently shakes the bed with minimal noise, although there is some noise form the bed shaker. Its impossible to sleep through too!

as long as you turn your alarm off quickly, you will be ok... your roommate will subconsciously know that your alarm sound does not mean it is time for them to get up. Obviously, they will still wake up if you let it go for awhile, or hit snooze repeatedly.

@modernchem, can you post a link to that or a similar item?

Almost any mp3 or ipod can do it, but personally I couldn't sleep with my earphones on (I roll over a lot).

I just use a regular alarm clock... roomate doesn't mind, its actually kinda nice to wake up a bit early and know that you can still sleep for a little longer.

heres what I have- it works wonders
Amazon.com: Sonic Alert SB200 Sonic Boom Loud Vibrating Alarm Clock: Health & Personal Care
vibrating is audible, but shouldnt bother your roomate. You can turn off the speaker and set it to vibrate only

Sounds like it would be a little dangerous to sleep with headphones on (and wires around your head)?

Sounds like the best solution would be a wireless headset connected to a media player?

they have pillow alarm clocks that light up when its time to get up

Don't worry about waking your roommate, it's one of those things you learn to deal with living in a door. After a few weeks my roommate's alarm clock wouldn't wake me up, and mine wouldn't wake him up.

The only exception is if you're one of the people that likes to hit the snooze button more than once. Heh, one of my friends had a guy that would hit his snooze button for about two hours. So, like, his class would be at 10, so he'd set his alarm for 7:30 and then proceed to hit snooze until 9:30. Don't be one of those people.

"Sounds like it would be a little dangerous to sleep with headphones on (and wires around your head)?"

Who are you Mr. Hankie?

I'm also afraid to fall asleep with headphones because i could strangle myself. lol

What I do is I set my phone on a vibrate alarm 6 minutes before my actual alarm clock (so I can hit snooze and then it will go off once more before my alarm clock). It's not a big deal and as long as you don't have your alarm clock up loud and you leave it on forever for hit snooze a ton of times it will be fine.

I just use my cellphone as an alarm clock. I set it to vibrate and put it under my pillow. When it goes off, I always notice. It's hard not to when your head is suddenly vibrating! It never wakes my roommate up, and she's a pretty light sleeper.

Uhh...don't worry about it. God forbid your roommate wakes for two seconds.

Totally buying one of those sonic boom alarm clocks for myself.

Also, does anyone know of a normal clock that has a 110V outlet attached to it like an alarm? I'd really like to have a light turn on when my alarm goes off since my current apartment gets no sunlight (window faces a large parking structure about 15 feet away), and the normal outlet timers that you'd use with, like, Christmas lights are a hassle to adjust every few days and not nearly as precise as a clock would be.

You should get one of these then
Amazon.com: EZ Wake Digital SunRise Alarm Clock - Sea Green: Electronics

It slowly lights up your room 30 minutes before your alarm goes off so you won't wake up to a loud alarm noise in a dark room.

is mr. hankie that little piece of **** from south park?

No, not the last time i checked.

Haha, no offense, but funny that someone who knows anything about south park would be so cautious.

Actually, just remembered: you cannot choke, suffocate, drown etc. while sleeping - you'll wake up as soon as your body realizes it needs air. Unless you're drunk or fainted from purposely holding your breath. I've done it to my friends, when waking them up I'll cover their nose and mouth, instantly they wake up. No its not as bad/mean as it sounds.
