Do these awards help?

Last year my history teacher nominated me to be one of the Daughters of the American Revolution US history students of the year, only 11 were selected from the entire city of 11 high schools. Is anyone familiar with the weight of the Daughters of the American Revolution, also I don't plan on majoring in history, so does that discount its value.

Second I was selected for the first round of a Rotary Club scholarship as well, one of 22 others selected (two from each high school), This is the first part of a scholarship process but I was told that just being selected for consideration is quite an accomplishment. Are Rotary Club awards weighted much?

I hope I didn't come off as arrogant or snobbish, I just want to know if these are awards that might help me out.

Negligible impact on your admission chances at best, imo.

“Negligible impact on your admission chances at best, imo.” I concur

Why? Because if you’re applying to selective colleges, these type of awards are commonplace. If you’re applying to less selective colleges, your GPA and scores alone will most likely get you admitted (along with merit money probably) and these awards won’t be considered.

I know you’re targeting some top colleges. If you look at the class of '14 results threads and look at a sampling of both accepted and rejected students, you’ll see litanies of awards too.
