Do these top schools have top engineering programs?

Specifically computer science.

U Chicago
Northwestern
Columbia - FU
U Rochester
U Virginia

The University of Chicago does not have a school of Engineering. However, Chicago does have a decent Computer Science department and a very strong (top 5 nationally) Physics program.

As for the others, they all have Engineering programs, but you will have to define "top". Do you mean top 15 or do you mean top 50? If you mean top 50, then yes, they have top Engineering programs. If you mean top 15, only Northwestern qualifies. None of those universities have Engineering programs that are as good as Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Michigan or UIUC, although Northwestern comes close. The others don't really come close.

However, if your interest is Computer Science, I would recommend you look at a different group of schools. For example, among the Ivies, Cornell, Princeton and Brown are the top programs, closely followed by Penn and Columbia. UVA and Chicago are also decent. Northwestern and Rocester are not that good.

Some of the top CS programs include CMU, Cal, Stanford, MIT, UIUC, Cornell, Princeton, Wisconsin, Texas-Austin and Washington (the one on the West Coast).

Brown has a top engineering program among the Ivies?

I believe Alexandre was talking about Computer Science. Brown really don't have much an engineering program, at least not in the traditional sense.

Sakky, I was referring to Computer Science. Among the Ivies, Cornell is best, Princeton is #2 and Brown is #3, although Columbia and Penn are pretty strong.
