Do these universities provide full FA for Int'ls?

Though it was need-aware until last year!

That explains Gary and Quasi’s comments.

I didn’t know that! Wow.

I would have applied for financial aid had I known that Cornell is need blind now

i’m sorry if i sound rude, but did any of you not notice it being mentioned on the cornell university website itself? the financial aid application states that it is need blind for internationals. i mean, it IS a very important factor for further study in the US, at least for me, and is something I would check up on before doing anything else.

ACTUALLY, Wikipedia IS wrong about this. Cornell is not " need-blind and full-need for all applicants". It doesn’t promise to meet full-need.

I donated $5 to Wiki. :)

I had started a thread on this last month on the Cornell forum:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1046589-need-blind-need-aware.html

Not very helpful, given the many contradictory replies, and even on this thread, there seems to be no reliable or definitive source.

The Cornell website is intriguingly vague about this - if it was need-blind, shouldn’t it be advertising it boldly, to draw more international applicants? The one vague statement on the financial aid form is really not sufficient proof to assume anything.

The mistake on that page has been corrected.

Don’t blindly believe everything you read on Wikipedia. It’s a lot like CC, in the sense that much of the information on the site is written by uninformed and over-enthusiastic people.

Did you really?

Correction - The FAQ thing seems reliable. Too late for me though; the website’s vagueness is seriously irritating.

It states on their international finaid form
“Cornell has a need-blind admissions policy, which means that we review your
admissions application without considering whether you’ve applied for aid;
Cornell awards all financial aid on the basis of demonstrated financial need.
Cornell is pleased to be able to provide financial aid to a limited number of
students who are citizens of countries other than the United State”

Anyway.

Yes, I did. :)

I just edited Wikipedia to reflect Cornell’s inclusion into the need-blind for internationals category.

And I edited it again. B)

Wow, ***. Cornell is nb now!?! . I would’ve applied then.

^^Guys, though Cornell might call itself need blind, their aid sucks. This year, 3 students from Nepal were accepted in ED itself at Cornell. The acceptance was really great to learn but when the financial aid letter came, the dreams of 2 students got shattered. One was asked to pay full COA and next was asked to pay half the COA. None of them was willing to pay more than 10k(max). So, its clear how much need blind Cornell is. :D

@DreamsUnlimited

Dickinson—Meets demonstrated need of almost every international student. For full aid–>1350+SAT, 3.8+ GPA, 100+ TOEFL

Colorada College–Meets demonstrated need of almost every international student. Might ask to pay around 5k-7k

Earlham college-Two full scholarships available for internationals. Lots of Half tuition/Half COA scholarships available.

Franklin & Marshall College-Meets demonstrated need of almost every international student.

Connecticut College-Sometimes might even give air ticket! Very generous with aid. Meets demonstrated need of almost all internationals.

St. Olaf College-Asks to pay around 7k but gives loads of aid and might even give air ticket in some cases.

St. Lawrence Univ. (NY)-Has got one of the most generous aid for internationals. Tries to meet demonstrated need of every international.

Lafayette College ¶-Meets demonstrated need of every international student.

Macalester College (MN)-Meets demonstrated need of every international student. Very easy to get in if you are from UWC. Sponsors a lot of UWC students and awards them full ride!

Thanks for the response everyone.
