Hey everybody!
I just had a question. When the admissions committee is reviewing each application, do they consider the major that the person has applied for or does that not count at our level (viz. Undergraduate Level)? Do they keep the major in mind or does that not bother them when they decide? If some schools do and some don't, could someone please tell me which ones do and which ones don't? And how long do they spend on each application?
Thanks so much!
I'm eternally grateful to everyone here at College Confidential.

I don't pretty much now. unless you're appling for some special programs.... like Brown PLME or something I don't really think they care. you won't have to definetely choose your major until the end of the sophomore year, so basically what you write in your app is just so they know what to expect, but it won't be taken in consideration once arrived there. this is what I think.

Yeah, it depends. If it's a competitive major with limited space, like Engineering or Physiotherapy or Nursing, I think they do. In fact, these often have their own apps, right?

Other schools, like JHU, are more competitive for those potential science major applicants than for humanities applicants. Makes sense.

I think this is a more individual school question. You'll have to research each one you're considering.

What about Psychology which is one of the most popular majors almost everywhere?

as Izzy pointed out, if it's a very competitve major they might take that into consideration.

So am i better off saying i'm still undecided?

uhm.... dunno. I mean many ppl are reluctant about saying they're undecided on their app. plus what you write on your app CAN change till the end of sophomore year. imo, you should write Psychology.
