Do they curve AP scores?

Do you know? I think today's APchem test was harder than most of other years'. so I kind of hope they curve the scores. But I saw last year >50% people who took Calc BC got 5s. that seems to indicate they don't curve the scores.

Scores are not “curved,” they are equated and scaled. Equated means that they compare the difficulty of this test form to previous test forms. Scaled means the scores are adjusted to compensate for the strength of this test taking group relative to the others, and in comparison to college student performance during a comparability study, so that a 5 is an equivalent to a college A.

OTOH, most people on CC will continue to talk about whether the curve is easy or harsh, so even if the “curve” doesn’t exist, those who want to can have lively discussions about it.

Thank you, Big. That’s very helpful. so let’s just trust CB to be just.

Thank you! That is the most intelligent response I have ever received on this board.
