Do they have to move out for winter break?

So we see our DS this weekend and he said they have to move everything out for xmas break. I find this so hard to believe (never had to in my 4 yrs at college), but he said because during winter break other students come in for classsed. I just can't believe I am going to have to take apart his entire room and bring it all back home to go back 5 weeks later an reset it again...UGGH! BTW I am glad if it is true he's a he...taking down posters and all that I expect my DD to take would drive me to say...you're going into an apt in Jan, so I won't have to so it again.

Just tell me he is mis-informed and I don't have to. He and his roommate have not asked to change rooms or roommates.

no one is forced to move during break on the UMD campus. what dorm is this?

Centreville...I thought that sounded a little strange, but DS said it is because they house people during winter break for the quick semester classes

No, unless they changed something in the past year, you absolutely do not need to move things out. Those who take winter classes can find somewhere off campus, or take over the lease of someone who live in apartments on campus (South Campus Commons apartments). I've never heard of such a thing on North Campus. The link provides information for 2007 but like I said, if nothing has changed, then those are the rules.

December Closing and Winter Break Information 2007
Look under the North Campus section. Dorms are definitely CLOSED for all of break and there will be no going in or out, but there is no rule that states you need to move everything out. Hope this helps!
