<p>Because SAT IIs are voluntary and you would expect students to take only those where they expect to score well, most believe a good score relative to your peer group is all that is required. For some schools that maybe 750+, for others it will be 600.</p>
<p>well considering the average on most SAT2 are above 620, unlike SAT1 sections which are bell-curved to 500ish, i would expect them to look at percentiles.</p>
<p>u normally want to be at 750+ on all your sat2s(especially math2c) but depending on what you're expecting, a 700 maybe fine.</p>
<p>Obviously they probably know which tests have higher average scores, but as long as you have a decent score you are fine. They aren't going to say "well, he got a 750 in Physics, which is only 80th percentile, and he is therefore only as smart as someone who got a 600 in verbal/math, which is also 80th percentile". People score higher in SAT IIs because they are more qualified for them, so looking at percentiles is pointless. Scoring a 760 on Chinese if you have it as a second language, for instance, is impressive, but a very low percentile.</p>
