Do they post denied admissions early?

wow, now I almost feel that it's a fluke that I got in. of course I am undeclared but I still feel that I should not have gotten in compared to the rest of you. I have a 3.26 HS GPA and a 1100 SAT. something seems off to me just by those numbers...but i'm not complaining. it's just shocking =/

Not sure how they calculated it. I was rejected with a 3.2 gpa and 1990 SAT. I had hoped that the SAT would have made up for the GPA

wow 57,00 applicants!! i guess that makes sense though, i think everybody in california appplied there. i know everyone at my school did.

"Not sure how they calculated it. I was rejected with a 3.2 gpa and 1990 SAT. I had hoped that the SAT would have made up for the GPA"

Oh, well if u didnt get in with that, then there goes my chances.

i think it's based on an index score. im not sure how they calculate it but i think its gpa x 800 + sat scores.

lol the area around state isn't ghetto at all...unless you go south down the cliffs...then it starts to get a little bit more sketchy...but SDSU is like 5 mins from USD...it's in the heart of the mission valley/fashion valley..which is a very nice area. Sorry to hear about all these rejections. SDSU like i've been saying for years is getting quite competitive and will soon be in the 1st tier...it's currently at the same difficulty level as a 90's UC Berkeley in terms of acceptance.

iiperplexedii
did you get 1140 total of all three portions of the sat? or do you mean just the verbal and math? because if you got 1140 on just verbal and math then you hit their index requirement for this year. your's is 3748 and you only needed a 3690ish to get in.

here's the calculator for those of you who want to check your index.
sdsu doesn't look at the writing portion of the sat.

http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/admissions/apply/eligindexcalc.html

i hit the index requirement with a 3730 and i didnt get in. it says for fall 2006 the average index was 4010. its probably more this year because of so many applicants

Pretty incredible. Can't understand how Work18 doesn't get in with 3.2 and 1990 SAT. But someone says they don't count the writing section. Are the standards higher for getting into the Business School? Probably very impacted. And 57,000 applicants.. can this be true. Last year it was 37,000.
If it's this tough to get into a very average school like SDSU, what must it take to get into UCSB, UCLA , UCBerkeley???

The difference, for my son anyway, in being admitted to SDSU vs the UC's was that he met the eligibility criteria and that's it. He did not have to write essays, and he didn't need any extra curriculars that made him stand out over other applicants. For UC admissions you need those things in addition to a competitive GPA and test scores.

yea, for most uc's you should aim at a 4.0 and above along with great sat scores, sat ii's, and extra curricular activities. plus, the essay you write has to be pretty good.

I was only counting the verbal and math considering SDSU doesn't include the written portion. But just knowing that I came that close to not making it in is a bit shocking. It still doesn't explain all the others here who weren't able to make it in though unless they tried for an impacted major.

Last year SDSU had about 52,000 applications...

Keevin where are you getting your stats....bc mine are from the sdsu website.

got the stats from US News on line college site I think... must have been outdated

I was rejected from SDSU as a transfer student. I currently attend another Cal State and have a 2.9 gpa. I was applying as a business major, which I think made a difference. The admissions counselor I talked to said I probably would have been admitted as an Economics major. I'm not too bothered by the rejection since San Diego was my 3rd choice. I was pretty surprised considering that the school doesn't have a great academic reputation, but they are a solid school for business.

It has essentially become the UCSB of three years ago

i applied as a mathematics majors and biz/finance for back up.

will it be hard to switch into business major once i enter sdsu as a freshman?

^^
When I went to SDSU during the summer, the woman said that they don't put any stock into what you put down as your major. However, I'd expect the bar to be raised higher for things like engineering

haha- there is no ghetto in sd

Haha, I checked just now, I didn't get in. Did anyone else get the option for waitlist? Mine says this

"Your credentials are such that you have the option of being placed on a wait list for fall 2007 admission. If you would like to exercise this option, please indicate your decision below by May 1, 2007. Being placed on the wait list does not guarantee admission. Students on the wait list will be notified during the first week of May if we are able to offer you admission for the fall term."

I selected yes for the wait list, you never know. Luckily SDSU isn't my first choice.
