DO they read at the same time?

My 'no scholarship' letter just got here (as in 5 minutes ago): I should've known it'd come later, considering I live outside North America. (as you can see, patience is not a virtue of mine)

What if my school doesn't issue midyear reports? What do I do?

SAT I: 2170
SAT II: math 680, E bio 670, lit 730
GPA: none. I'm in a British school system. (any tips on how to calculate?)
Ranking: we don't rank either, though I guess I'm in the top 20%. Then again, our senior class isn't particularly large either.

rec was excellent

lots of ECs, mainly music stuff (6 years in orchestra etc.)

cycnicalowl:...your stats look pretty good to me! I think posting your grades online is the main thing.....mailing them is going to take awhile anyway and they probably will understand if they don't come quickly...

scarletstar89....I got a pretty quick answer. Try making contact with Michelle Taylor...the admissions person for Cinematic Arts with questions on your application. She's really nice.

post stuff about your essays or something like we all did

Where's the link to that thread? Is that for cinema people or all applicants?

There was a thread a couple of days ago called:
USC School of Cinematic Arts ( 1 2)

there are some comments about essays for film school

"endshere: sorry i didn't mean to scare you, I just thought you could post stuff about your essays or something like we all did, i found it kinda comforting...
sorry :["

Don't worry I was just kidding, besides I stocked up on sugar so I can't get depressed at the moment.

btw, (this is off topic but no reason to start a new topic, maybe it should be in the "USC School of Cinematic Arts" topic but that would mean starting another reply, better save the webspace) anyone know the workload for Production?
I'm guessing the worst load would be from general requirements since it atleast sounds more paper related (and since it's not our main interest) but I read somewhere you should spend 3 hours outside class for every hour in class. I don't know how packed a college schedule is but I'm used to 8 hours day (minus breaks of course) which would mean very little time left over for sleep.
So to summarise all that; does anyone have any insider info on the workload?

The problem is: I don't HAVE midyear grades to post. Seriously. It'd just be the same as the ones on my transcript since the school only gives out final grades. Should I just do that?

Is anyone else having problems posting their midyear grades? Every time I log in, it says 'server error'.

okay quick thing: i called the school of cinematic arts today to check on the status of my application and they said that it was in review.
now i don't want to jump to conclusions but from what i've read on cc... your app has to pass through the general admissions office before being passed on to your major specific school...
am i right? i'm not going to say i got in, because i won't say anything till i'm holding it in my hand, but i mean it can't be bad right...?

wait so you can call the specific school and ask them?

does it say your app is in review at the main office too?

I'm pretty sure the person at the School of Cinematic Arts typed your USC ID into a computer, got your general admission page, read that it was in "Review", and then told you. I really doubt that it makes a difference where it is in review - at the main admissions office, at your specific school, wherever. I think everybody that has not yet been accepted is in "Review," so it really means nothing - you're not in yet, and you're not rejected yet.

yeah that's what i pretty much figured.

they didn't ask for my USC ID, sounded like she was looking through a lot of papers, she asked for my first and last name, i asked if she wanted my usc id and she said no

I would be strange for the department to review it if you haven't gotten in...haven't you already gotten into USC?
Thought I read that somewhere or am I just confused?

haha i wish... but no not yet, i really hope i do, i mean i dont want to get my hopes up... but i talked to my parents, and i even emailed my summer session USC teacher about it(haven't heard from him yet) but general idea among them is why would they pass it on to the department for review if you weren't in at the general school? cause i know that's how it works at chapman, you have to get into chpaman first then the film school. i know i definetely heard her going through a lot of papers lol, and no usc id.

I think you might be right, I hope you're right since mine went on to the department as well.
But lets try and control our joy/hopes until we know for sure, chances are they send out more letters this friday so atleast we don't need to wait until 1st april.

Does our personal admission Rep read our applications..????..... or is it three random people on the adcom

hey scarletstar89 I think you are right...why bother with applications that are not going to fly past general admissions.....if film school could find your app without a computer that has to be a good sign! they get hundreds of them....

quick question here

if USC requests a mid-year report, does that mean that all three admissions people accepted your application?

No one has any idea, and anybody who says anything is speculating. The admissions office will say nothing about this.

aghhh wait scarlet did you just randomly call the film school?

haha maybe i should "randomly" do it with marshall because the general office isn't telling me anything..

ya i just called today after school and asked, they were really quick and nice about it. i did email my usc teacher again to make sure they wouldn't just look up the status of my general app, when he gets back to me i'll post something.

but my usc teacher (he used to be on the cinema school admissions committee): "I am not an expert on admissions procedures---but I THINK I recall that you have to get admitted to the university first and then you get evaluated by the film school."
