Just as the title says, i had a C in honors class in freshmen year. my unweighted gpa is high 3.7 (junior now) and my SAT 2300+.
IF I write a frickin amazing essay and pretty good ECs, would that cover up my gpa?? for Top schools i mean…

One C freshman year isnt the end of the world.
Although admission for top school does depend on other things like ECs and stuff.
schools like USC, Rice, CMU, UMich, WASHU, UW, and maybe Cornell??
I have a strong feeling that I would get rejected by these colleges
nah, I don’t think so. As long as you show an upward trend and a pretty solid overall GPA, tons of ECs and also write stellar essays, I think you are safe. You’l probably get into USC and UW, those are pretty easy schools to get into.
