Do transfers have to live on-campus?

Hey guys, I got accepted into Cornell for the spring semester next year and had a quick question about housing.

Are transfers required to submit a housing application? I am a current junior, so I really don’t want to deal with the whole dorm/roommate situation. I would prefer to just live in a single apartment somewhere off-campus.

I don’t know the answer for sure. Surest way is to just ask them, obviously.

But it occurs to me that it might be easier to get to know some people if you live in a dorm for just this one, first semester.
They’d probably put you in the Collegetown dorms, which house upperclassmen, transfer students, and graduate students too, I think. Who knows, you might even get a single.

If you get a chance to go into one of the coops that may help with meeting some people as well.
