I’m just wondering because I just found out my SAT scores for March (My 2nd attempt) and my overall score went up because of writing but my Math + Reading only score went down because of Reading.

Which score looks better to the UC Schools?
They do look at it; Collegeboard added the writing section and switched from a 1600 to 2400 scale primarily because of a critical University of California study and their subsequent threat to drop the test requirement. The UCs weren’t too impressed by the new writing section, but they were apparently impressed enough to keep requiring the test.
The UCs will want you to send all of your scores, so don’t worry about which one will look better.
