Do UCs care about exceed 90 units as a Junior applicant?

Hello everyone,

My friend is having 92 units by Spring 2014, and he submitted his application as a Junior Applicant. His major is Biology, and all his units are completed in LACC. Do UCs care about that?

Thank you!

If you mean semester rather than quarter hours, yes, it can be a serious issue; see, for example, UCLA’s FAQ for transfers which states that it is not likely to accept transfers who will have more than 86 semester hours at time the student will begin classes at UCLA: [Transfer Applicants - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/faq/TR_During.htm)

If LACC is a community college then he is probably okay. Up to last year the UC websites explicitly said there was no limit I how many units you could have if they were all from a community college. I can’t find that on the website anymore, but I’ve heard the policy is the same.

Why is your friend having you ask this question instead of taking himself to go see a transfer counselor?
