If a class doesn't count toward the UC 30 units required, will the UC take it into account for your GPA? Or will it only calculate your GPA from the UC transferable courses?

I have posted about this many times and it is pretty long to explain, I will try to find one of the old post. Basically it can affect your chances but not your transferable GPA. It depends on what UC you apply to, what college you are applying to within the UC and what your major is.

It should not effect your chances.... I failed a non uc transferable class (long story) and I did not even explain why I failed it and was still accepted to Berkeley.

Actually it can very well hurt your chances depending on major! Here is the complete list of what UC and college in UC will use you overall GPA rather than your UC GPA. University of California - Counselors

For example most majors outside of the CL&S at Berkeley they will use your overall GPA as opposed to your UC transferable GPA. I would say more often than not it will not hurt your chances but at some UCs and some specific majors it can affect your chances.

I guess that makes sense since my major is in the L&S... thank goodness L&S is huge w/ several majors =)
