do UC's look at both capped and uncapped gpas?

i think their system of limiting 8 semesters of extra grade points is ridiculous...

I think they take the rigor of your academic schedule into account during the admission process.

Only 8 counts toward the UC GPA, but that doesn't mean 8 AP courses should be the max you should take. They will look at the rigor of your classes as therighteous says.

An berkeley admissions person came to our school and she said that berkeley (don't know about other UCs) don't cap off at 8 weighted classes. They look at your whole weighted GPA.

Cal/LA uncap.

I visited Berkeley and got a similar response. During an admissions session, at least 3 admissions personnel denied actually using the 8-semester cap. It makes me wonder if the numbers on the site (4.26 average weighted GPA) are based on capped or uncapped...

When I applied for Fall 2006, I was under the impression that Cal looks mostly at the UC GPA while taking into consideration the rigor of your academic schedule. It might have changed this year to make the admission process more difficult with a record number of applicants.

Every year has had a record number of applicants for the past few years (or probably every single year).

Hmm, interesting. I was under the impression that to calculate your weighted GPA, they cap it, but they keep in mind the uncapped GPA. I'd never heard of them disregarding the cap rule of the UCs, though ...

are u 100 percent pos they uncap?! WQHAHSDOHJA;SDLKFJASOoo!!!!

Heh, just because I'm desperate, I calculated my uncapped 10th/11th grade W GPA, and it's 4.18, versus my capped UC UW GPA of 3.67. I hope they do.
