Do UC's look at your high school school rank?

Do they look at the rank you have in your current high school?

UC’s do not consider rank except in the context of ELC. ELC eligibility is top 9% in your HS class or the state which guarantees that if you are not accepted into your choice UC, then there will be a spot available at the default campus which is currently UC Merced.

This link explains how ELC is determined: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/freshman/california-residents/local-path.html

Note that ELC does not use your high school’s definition of class rank. It uses a threshold GPA from the top 9% threshold of UC-recalculated GPAs from a recent past class whose academic records were submitted for ELC threshold calculation.
