if u apply to schools with predict grades, do u have to get them for us unis. i know for uk conditionla offer u do but i hear not the same for us. is this true?

Your actual results do not need to be exactly those that were predicted. If you had a predicted A- GPA (I'm don't know how exactly your school system works) and it drops down to a B+ you will be all right. If a predicted A- drops to a C, however, US universities will mind and may revoke their offer of admission (at least the very prestigious ones).

i am doing the alevels. so if my predict grade ABC or something and i get AAD, would they mind? Because that is what i think my final score will be.

thanks

From what i know from the college that accepted me ED, the final A level grades is only required if you decide to enroll in the school when you need to submit the final report. They are not going to use your actual grades for decision purposes. However, if your result is really poor(like all C, D and Es i guess?)..they can revoke your admission offer. ABC to AAD is really not much of a problem.

By the way, i am fretting bout my own A level results too..lol

Damm, don't remind me about Results.

Btw are we required to mail our November results to colleges? My school will get them in early feb.

IMO..if they are really good and will improve ur app, mail them in early feb. If they are not very good then only mail when the school ask for your final report after acceptance since you need to do really badly for them to revoke your acceptance.

i think A level results matter VERY little.. my friend got into penn with predicted AAAB and he got AADD ... they didnt say anything... although acc. to my friend they place u on probabation as soon as u enroll if u perform miserably...

thank for all ur opinions guys. for me, only 1 subject i am doing badly in so i was worried.

Btw when are the CIE A-level result to be declared, 19 or 21?

19th from what i've heard

a D is gonna raise some flags. really. i find it hard to believe someone get get into Upenn with an AADD.

I guess a D is kind of like an AP score of 2 for them. I don't think the adcom in US feels that a single examination can define ones ability.

it's a final exam, and that's the whole point of being in school. to see if you can cope with the courseload. if it's a B, i can understand that US schools won't mind, but a D is a bit far-fetched. we're talking about Upenn here.

a D in SPM probably won't mean much, but this is a-levels, basically college-level work.

i didn't say the AADD guy won't get in (since he got in before the final results are out), i'm just saying it's surprising that Upenn "didn't care".

yeah its shocking.. but its true .. i'm not lying!

yeah..if you check last year's thread somewhere someone didn't have any problems with Brown with a D in his A level too. In his post the person claimed that the Brown admission officer said that they do not revoke offer based on A level grades.

I am not saying that every school in US treat A level like this. I would believe that different schools have different policy on this issue. That being said, it is still better to be safe than sorry..everyone taking their final exam - pls do STUDY HARD:)
