I’m and int student and the co-op program, though exciting and valuable, is out of my options to the the finanical state. Can I know if we earn during the coop and is it enough to support the housing?
Also what is the student organisation scene in drexel, how active are people. I need to know
I believe you earn $17k for six months of co-op
These maybe dumb questions, but I would appreciate having them answered.
Is this enough for handling our own expenses and housing?
Also does it not cost us time working in coops. E.g.
Is our degree delayed (from 4years to 5years)? If yes, is our tuition financial aid continued to the addtional year?
My D is in her second year & currently interviewing for co/ops. Her tuition and financial aid (grants & scholarships) are only charged for the 12 class terms. You CAN earn $$ on co/op, depending on your major, the $$ you earn is determined by the employer. (There are estimates on the website) Drexel charges a fee on coop terms($790 each quarter). Only student loans will be paid out on coop.
Thankyou!
@mommabear67 , Also is there an option to change the number of coops we want to attend from what we chose while admissions process?
@muu2000 Yes! Actually my daughter applied for one co-op , but changed to the 3 co-op plan. i think she did this before school started by contacting admissions.
Aweosome! Thanks
I hope the decisions go in my favor now…
I highly doubt you will earn anywhere close to enough $$ on co-op to fund your drexel education. Maybe enough to cover housing…maybe.
Drexel estimates really high costs for on campus housing but if you were to live off campus (Philly is pretty cheap right now) you could use quite alot of the money to pay back loans faster.
My daughter has friends who are from other countries and it is my understanding that international students do not get paid for coops due to visa issues. Please check directly with Drexel for specific information.
I personally know an international student that earns on a co-op. International students DO earn money during their co-ops.
Depends on the visa, some are unable to earn US money, others cannot. There are plenty of int’l kids we couldn’t hire for internships or PT stuff because they didn’t have the right visa to do so.
Oh is it the F-1 visa that’s most accepted?
