<p>I believe you have to select a dining plan or Duke will automatically assign you the lowest priced one (Plan G I think). You can't just get the board plan by itself, or at least, you couldn't last year and I'm pretty sure you still can't.</p>
<p>Yeah you do have to get a 1st year dining plan. It annoyed me my first year, but a bunch of my friends thought that eating all those meals in the Marketplace promoted a good first year community and all that stuff. I don't buy that. You do get food points (flex is normally not used for food until the end of the semester if you're out of food points) to spend at all the other places to eat on campus.</p>
