Do we have to move out then back into our dorm room for school breaks? I heard they clean the dorm rooms during winter break (Christmas) & spring break. I will be flying home for most of my breaks and was trying to plan things out.

Colleges typically do not make you move out during the longer breaks during the year, including winter break. They do make you move your stuff out in the spring when the school year is over, so if you are from far away you probably need to make some arrangements for storage over the summer.

Students are kicked out of the dorms for all the major breaks–you don’t have to move your stuff out, but you aren’t allowed back in the building after a certain point.

Oh, yes, if that is your question. The dorms are often closed (but you leave your stuff). Usually that stuff is on the academic calendar on the school website or the housing section. Or you can email the housing department and ask. Note that sometimes the dorms are open but food service is not (my D stated on campus at her college to work on her senior thesis over spring break – her dorm was open, but she had to get food off campus). It was not your college, though, so you will have to check. This can be a real challenge for international students if they close the dorms completely during breaks.

Great! I thought I mIght have to move my things out then back in. I will take my valulables but leave most things. Thank You
