Do we need letters of recommendation?

<p>I've got a quick question...</p>

<p>Do we need letters of recommendation if we are applying to the UW (not honors)?</p>

<p>I thought I heard something like they weren't taking them anymore...is this true?</p>

<p>Or is it pretty much just a thing where if you have them they might help, but they arent required...?</p>

<p>"if you have them they might help, but they arent required"...pretty much yes. I sent in 1 really good letter last yr...dnno if they read it or not but it certainly cannot hurt you.</p>

<p>well my counselor said that they aren't even accepting them (unless you're doing honors) ....or did i misunderstand her?</p>

<p>They are not accepting them. I do not think they will read them if you send them in. Its like the UC system...they dont "solicite" letters of recommendation. But, for the honors program, they are required. :)</p>

<p>I know last year they told me that there's no gurantee that they'll read it but they never told me that they'll throw it in the trash like ur counselor said. I think if you're on the fence then you might as well send it.</p>
