For those of you who are already at Cornell, do we need to have a car there or is it a pain to have one instead?

I'm kind of scared of the hills too.

Thanks!

There are buses that go through the whole campus so it's not that much of an issue. Besides they charge so much for you to bring a car.

Everyone complains about how there are not enough parking lots, how expensive they are and how inconveniently placed they are. Cornell will give you free bus pass for your first year (and possibly the second as well), you won't really have a problem getting around. The buses go to the mall as well.

well..actually i'm not concern about the parking spaces. it's just that where i live even though there are buses, they are not easy and it's much easier to have cars...thus the question is...will having a car be easier to get around or is it a pain? (driving hills, cleaning after snow, etc..etc..)

Thanks!

A car is only useful for driving to parties in the cold or going shopping at the mall. For going to classes, it's basically impossible as well as a waste of time to try to drive to class. You'll get used to walking 3+ miles everyday. ;)

....to Cornell's master planners:

Oh man... I like it without the concrete :( :( You'd think after 140 years they'd be done with all that building by now.

You don't need a car. I have a car and I left it at home. You get a free bus pass if you don't bring your car so it's definitely much cheaper to leave the car home. Besides, like previously stated, you'd only use it to go to parties and the mall.....Also, like previously stated, its around $600 or so to register your car if you have one on campus! :O
